An Atlanta Blogger: Marta

This last weekend, we weren't THAT busy at the hotel. We did have one group with us and two all-day meetings in our meeting room. And I had the pleasure of meeting a lovely family from Kentucky who were here scouting out which area of the city they want to move to.

Today is a dreary, thunderous day in Atlanta. And boo hoo, I have been called in to work. I'll be leaving for the hotel in a few hours. But first, I wanted to tell you about Atlanta's "subway" system. It's called Marta and it covers all of Atlanta stopping at Doraville. So it doesn't cover the suburbs in the next county from Atlanta, called Gwinnett county. But one can board Marta IN the airport and be taken to any area of Atlanta,  Marta has many stops and you can read about it here.

Unlike New York City's subway, Atlanta's is ABOVE ground, like a train. So one gets to see the city as he travels about. Marta doesn't take tokens but, instead, uses a reusable card that one swipes over a blue light at the entrance of the gate. The card, called Breeze, can be bought from a vending machine located at the entrance of the stations.

In addition to trains, Marta operates buses throught the city and the neighboring counties have their own buses that one can transfer to.

So one can get all over the city without a car, if need be.

The other day, I visited this Chinese restaurant. It is called East Pearl, located in the suburb of Duluth. And if you like Chinese, you'll LOVE this restaurant. The food was delicious and PLENTIFUL and the service was impeccable. I will certainly be returning. Give them a visit.

And having nothing to do with Atlanta and everything to do with beauty, here is my closing song for this blog: Tom Netherton singing "Smoke Gets in your eyes". Enjoy.
